Musical Art of the Andes "Yarawi" (yar-a-wee) means "song of the corn", in the Aymara language, a civilization that predates the Incas, inspired by the love of Andes and Amazon rain forest, their traditional music interprets the sound of rain, wind, thunder, rivers, and song of birds. Yarawi musical message expresses a commitment to preserve and propagate the musical and cultural heritage of Bolivia. The Spanish conquest introduced string instruments, modern scales of notes, and rhythms from Europe and Africa during the golden times of silver in Potosi. Slow "Yaravi" rhythm music and more lively huayno dances, were already known in the first Spanish chroniclers. Yarawi musical arrangements and own compositions challenge the deterioration of the rich Andean folklore by forces of juvenile rock or commercialization interes.
